Joey’s Coat

Back in the olden days of the 1990’s my little brother, Joey, had a Charlotte Hornets Starter Jacket. We lived in mid-Missouri, so I’m not entirely sure what the appeal of the Hornets was to him, but the coat was pretty cool. I loved the teal and purple color scheme, and there was this cartoon hornet with a basketball embroidered on the back. Pretty sweet.

When I read this article at Craftsy about Orange Peel and Joseph’s Coat quilts, I thought of my own Joseph’s coat—Joey’s Hornets jacket. I decided to play with those colors and the Joseph’s Coat pattern to create this pattern.

I still like teal and purple together, and the orange from the basketball adds a nice pop (I’m not sure if that was ever an official part of the Hornets’ color scheme or not, but in my mind, it is).
